COBA President Gives Testimony on the State of Criminal Justice in New York State and Nassau County at Public Health Hearing on the Legalization of Marijuana
Dear COBA Members/Retirees;
On Wednesday, Feb. 6th, myself and Nassau's 4 other Labor Union Presidents were asked to testify at a Health and Social Services Committee Hearing at the Nassau County Legislature. The purpose of this hearing was to take testimony and hear public comment on the legalization of "Recreational Marijuana" in New York. What effect it would have on our Communities and whether Nassau County should opt out of the State's plan to decriminalize marijuana in New York.
I took this opportunity to speak out about the horrendous state of the Criminal Justice System in New York and Nassau County and put many on notice that we are on a bad path when it comes to Criminal Justice. A path that will cost our residents, employees and taxpayers much more in the long run than any miniscule tax revenue that they think they are going to receive. A revenue stream that is also a fantasy.
Please take a moment to view the video of my testimony below.
In Unionism;
