Rally for Safer Jails

January 20, 2018

On Thursday Jan. 18th COBA's Executive Board stood proudly with our brother and sister Correction Officers in New York City at their "Rally for Safer Jails" on the steps of City Hall in lower Manhattan. The Rally was organized by NYC-COBA, The Correction Captains Association and the Asst. Dep. Wardens/Deputy Wardens Assoc. Also there to support were Suffolk and Westchester Corrections Unions as part of our newly formed Corrections Coalition.

It was well worth braving the bitter cold that day to shed light, not only on whats happening at Riker's Island, but in Corrections all over the Country today. We are all fighting the same dangerous liberal progressive political agendas that are making our jails so dangerous. Mayor Bill DeBlasio turned his back on the dedicated Officers who do this job everyday in the City, and a blind eye to the violence created by his dangerous political agenda.

I was proud to speak along with many other representatives. Enclosed is a video of several speakers along with myself. Union President Geoffrey Klopp from the Delaware Correction Officers Association gave an impassioned speech. You should remember that Lt. Steven Floyd was brutally beaten, murdered and mutilated in a Delaware Correctional Facility last year.

I urge you to watch the video and see for yourself that we're not alone in our fight to expose whats wrong with the Criminal Justice and Correctional Systems today. We need to bring it out from behind the walls so everyone can see how Corrections is sorely lacking in being provided the proper tools and support from our political leaders.

I apologize for the poor audio in the beginning. There was construction going on close by. The audio gets better a few moments into the video.

Stay Safe;

Sully
