Yesterday May 4th, 2023 the COBA Widows and Childrens Committee conducted our Annual Correction Officer Memorial Service to honor the memory of those in our ranks who died in the line of duty, passed while in active service or passed from 9/11 related illness.
The weather finally cooperated and we were able to properly honor those lost with over 2 dozen family members in attendance.
Numerous County Officials attended to pay respect to those we lost including the County Executive, District Attorney, County Comptroller, Police Commissioner and several County Legislators.
Thank you to the Nassau County Police Emerald Society Pipe Band for playing, and US Army Colonel Lou DiLeo for performing "Taps" at the ceremony.
Special thanks to all the members of the Widows and Childrens Committee for all of their hard work and dedication to make this Memorial Service special for all of the families in attendance.
We will always remember those friends we lost while in Active Service with us. But always remember with humble submission and respect, those lost in the Line of Duty:
CO George Klimpel
CO Maureen Callanan
CO Anthony Brown
CO John Allen
And those we lost due to 9/11 related illnesses:
Sgt Mark Baxter
CO Lawrence Lamme
Sgt Kevin Nuckel
CO Mark Ridge
May they all Rest in Peace
