Longevity Update : Informational Meetings

September 22, 2020

As you all know, COBA along with all other County Unions has reached an agreement with the County regarding our long overdue Longevity Pay issue. The COBA Board of Governors met this past Tuesday night where the agreement was presented, reviewed and by an overwhelming majority vote approved to be forwarded to YOU the Membership for YOUR VOTE on the issue. Informational meetings will now be held to present the agreement in detail to our Membership.

It has come to our attention that there is a tremendous amount of misinformation and rumor bouncing around the Jail regarding this issue. I ask you to not give any of these rumors any credence, and to simply come to one of the informational meetings and educate yourself on the actual agreement and make your own informed decision.

This is a very important issue regarding a Contractual Obligation that is owed to you. It is not an issue to be discussed for 10 minutes at a Lineup where everyone has to be rushed off to their posts. Come to a meeting and be involved in the decision-making process of your Union. Once those meetings are complete, a general vote of the membership will be scheduled for YOU to vote on the agreement.

Three meetings have been scheduled as follows, so every Platoon and Unit in our facility has fair access and the ability to attend.

Meeting Place:

Levittown Hall
201 Levittown Pkwy
Hicksville, NY 11801

Dates and Times:

1.) Thursday Sept 28th from 1700hrs to 1900hrs.
2.) Tuesday Oct 3rd from 1200hrs to 1400hrs.
3.) Tuesday Oct 3rd from 1700hrs to 1900hrs.

Attend a meeting, educate yourself and make your own informed decision.

I hope to see you there.
