Longevity Arbitration Update

October 20, 2021

Dear COBA Members;

On Monday October 18th, COBA participated in a pre-arbitration conference hearing regarding the consolidated Arbitration of the longevity pay issue currently in dispute with Nassau County.

COBA has consolidated this case that will be heard in front of Arbitrator Elena Cacavas, along with the County's four other unions that make up the Nassau County Labor Coalition. This includes the PBA, NCPD-SOA, NCPD-DAI and the CSEA. This conference was scheduled by Arbitrator Cacavas to discuss with the Unions and our attorneys the procedures for how the consolidated arbitration will proceed, and to establish a future arbitration hearing schedule.

COBA and our partners in the Labor Coalition have agreed with the County on six hearing dates before the Arbitrator that will extend into the first quarter of 2022. The first arbitration hearing will be conducted in front of Arbitrator Cacavas on November 22, 2021.

We will continue to provide periodic updates to you on the status of this Arbitration as we proceed.

Always In Unity;

Brian Sullivan, COBA President
