Dear COBA Members/Retirees;

As I advised you all yesterday, COBA's contract was ratified unanimously by the full Nassau County Legislature.

After yesterday's vote, Newsday falsely reported in both their online version last night, and in today's print newspaper that "the number of hours in which an Officer may earn overtime pay will be capped".

We have no idea what the Newsday reporter was referring to with this statement, since there is no such language or clause in our new contract. As such, I ask that everyone please put away the conspiracy theories that any such language does exist.

Surprise, surprise, Newsday got the details wrong. Nothing new.

I reached out to Newsday to correct this false statement and will advise if and when they do so. Don't hold your breath.

More importantly, I'll keep you all informed as we proceed to finalize our contract's full ratification.
