Message from  the Nassau County Health Insurance Unit

In compliance with Union Contracts signed in 2014 we are pleased to announce that the County has contracted with Aetna to provide a health insurance plan that would be at no cost to eligible employees. The Plan, Aetna Open Access Managed Choice, will be effective July 1, 2016.  

Employees eligible for this plan are: COBA Members hired after 6/1/2014                                                

Open Enrollment will be conducted between May 9, 2016 and June 10, 2016.  Members of Aetna's Implementation Team will be On-Site to introduce the plan to you and answer questions you may have.

Informational seminars will be held on:

Members may attend any Seminar:

  • Monday, May 9th between 12: 00 and 2:00 pm in the Ceremonial Chambers, 2nd Floor, 1550  Franklin Avenue
  • Tuesday, May 10th between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. at the Correctional Center, Training Room
  • Friday, May 13th between 4pm - 6pm  at PD Headquarters,  Auditorium, 1490 Franklin Avenue
  • Monday, May 16th between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. in the Ceremonial Chambers, 2nd Floor, 1550  Franklin Avenue

Attached below are the Application Form, Summary of Benefits, and other informational material regarding the plan.  Please take time to become familiar with the information so that you are prepared to ask questions at the seminar.  The Aetna Team will also be willing to address specific needs of enrollees as they may relate to:

  1. Open Case Transfers
  2. Transition of Care
  3. Open Refills

You may also search Aetna's website to see if your current doctor is a provider under the new plan or to select a new doctor - https://www.aetna.com/individuals-families/find-a-doctor.html.  Just make sure to select "Open Access Managed Choice" as the plan when prompted.  The Customer Service number is: 800-370-4526.

We are confident that the Aetna Team will provide excellent service in assisting our eligible employees transition to the new plan.
