Coba Alert

Homecoming Escort for Correction Officer Mark Ridge

November 20, 2021

Late last night COBA had the honor of overseeing the escort detail for Correction Officer Mark Ridge as his body was returned to New York for his funeral services.

As you all know, Mark passed away from 9/11 related cancer at his home in Wisconsin this past week. Mark will be laid to rest this coming Tuesday with his family here in New York.

Many acts of respect and honor were shown by the Port Authority Police, Nassau County Police Dept Highway Unit and our Sheriff's Dept Honor Guard, as we brought Mark's body via Police escort from JFK International Airport to Chapey's Funeral Home in Bethpage in preparation for his funeral services on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Thank you to the Port Authority Police, the Port Authority Detective's Union; Nassau Police Commissioner Pat Ryder and Sheriff James Dzurenda for all of their assistance in helping us perform a dignified and respectful transfer of Mark's remains for both him and his family.

There is no greater respect than that shown by our Brother and Sister Law Enforcement Officers, especially that shown for our Fallen 9/11 Responders.

Please see below some photos and videos of last night's procession.

Always in Respect and Unity;

Brian Sullivan, COBA President
