Dear COBA Members;
In the COBA Contract which was fully ratified on November 6, 2023, it obligated the County to provide a Health Insurance Plan which required “no payroll deductions” for ALL COBA Members. This Plan is unlike our current PPO plans with co-pays. This plan works on Deductibles. The plan is in the same network as the Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield (aka Anthem/BCBS) which a large majority of COBA Members hired on or after June 1, 2014 already use.
This plan is called the EMPIRE BCBS HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan) WITH HSA (Health Savings Account). Again, this plan works on deductibles not co-pays, along with an HSA savings account which you could contribute to tax free along with the County's contribution (if applicable) to pay eligible healthcare expenses.
We encourage COBA Members to attend one of the upcoming Open House Meetings which will be held on the following dates and times below in the 832 Building OM to see if this option would work for you.
