Fundraiser Tomorrow Night, October 25th, 2022 for Winthrop ER Nurse and Daughter of Retired Transportation Sgt. George Mengepe

October 24, 2022

Dear COBA Members/Retirees;

Joanne Drenckhahn is an Emergency Room Nurse at Winthrop Hospital. She is also the daughter of Retired Nassau Correction Sergeant (Transportation) George Mengepe.

Joanne is the mother of 2 children, 5 and 3 years old. She recently suffered the terrible effects of a virus that damaged her heart so bad that she needed a heart transplant. She also suffers from numerous other physical effects of that virus and was recently moved from NYU Langone in the City to a Rehab facility.

Nassau Correction Officers know Joanne from the ER at Winthrop Hospital as a caring attentive Nurse who helped us in our time of need many times as she worked with all other First Responders during the COVID epidemic.

NOW ITS OUR TURN TO HELP HER!!

Joanne's family and friends are holding a fundraising benefit to help her husband (a former Floral Park Police Officer who is also disabled) raise money for uncovered/unforeseen medical expenses.

Please spread the word and come out to help the daughter of one of our own.

See the flier below for details.
