County Legislature Announces New Uniform Service Bar for Those Who Served During COVID Crisis

June 23, 2020

Dear COBA Members;

At a press conference yesterday on the steps of the County Legislature in Mineola, Republican Majority Leader Rich Nicollelo announced that the County will be issuing Uniform Service Bars to Correction Officers, Police Officers and those in the Fire Service who worked and performed under extraordinary circumstances during the COVID Pandemic. These service bars will become part of our uniforms and worn over our badges.

They also announced the issuance of a Commemorative Pin for County Healthcare Workers who served during the pandemic.

Legislators in attendance stated that the Bars are a small gesture of gratitude by the Legislature to say thank you to all the brave men and women in service during this harrowing time. The bars and pins are similar to those issued to First Responders for their service during and after the Sept 11th, 2001 Terrorist Attacks on the World Trade Center.

The vendor process is now in motion and will be approved by the Rules Committee of the Legislature.

Here are some photos of yesterday's press conference.
