COBA has scored another victory at PERB.
As a longtime past practice, COBA members working in the Transportation Unit had obtained a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as a part of their employment in that unit, to the benefit of the Department. In exchange, the Department has routinely reimbursed all Department of Motor Vehicle fees for that license, and also covered the renewal cost for the member's full driver's license with the CDL designation. On or about October 25, 2018, the Department arbitrarily denied several members that same reimbursement request and sought to change the longstanding reimbursement practice.
As such, COBA filed an "Improper Practice Charge" at PERB (The NYS Public Employee Relations Board).
At the conference, the County agreed to return to the longstanding practice that existed before and to reimburse the members who were denied their requests in October.
Always Yours in Unionism
