COBA President Sullivan Co-Hosts the 1st of Several Town Hall Meetings with Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder Regarding the Realities of New York State's Newly Enacted Criminal Justice Reforms

See video link below:

Dear COBA Members/Retirees;

On Wednesday Jan 15th, 2020 I had the honor of co-hosting the first in a series of Community Town Hall Meetings along with Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder. This meeting was held at the request of the Carle Place Civic Association and Nassau County Legislator Laura Schaefer. The Commissioner and I where asked to speak regarding the ramifications of New York State's newly enacted Criminal Justice Reforms. Through these meetings we hope to get a clear message out to the public, explaining the problems with Bail Reform, how we got here, and what these new laws mean to everyone particularly here in Nassau County. I will post the dates and times of future public Forums regarding this very important issue.

I urge everyone to be informed on this and all other issues affecting not only our jobs but Public Safety in general. Don't be left out of the conversation when it comes to how and why decisions are made that affect your job as a Correction Officer and the safety of our families. Those of us in Law Enforcement are directly affected by these Criminal Justice Reforms in more ways than one since not only do we work in Law Enforcement but we also live in communities affected by these laws. Be educated, especially when it comes time to vote for those who are making these decisions in Albany.

Always In Unity;

Brian Sullivan, COBA President
