Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and

Mount Sinai Health System

Reach New Agreement

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has announced a new three-year agreement with the Mount Sinai Health System, effective April 13, 2026. This agreement restores in-network access for Anthem members to Mount Sinai's hospitals, physicians, and other providers in New York, including those under the New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP). This agreement is retroactively to January 1, 2026.

The agreement comes after months of negotiations following the expiration of a previous contract at the end of 2025, which had resulted in Mount Sinai providers going out-of-network at the beginning of 2026.

This new contract emphasizes improvements in reimbursement structures that focus on quality and outcomes, ensuring that care is delivered in the appropriate settings while controlling costs. Importantly, it also includes safeguards to help ensure that hospital bills are accurate, which is crucial for maintaining patient trust and financial stability.
