Dear COBA Members;
I'm very pleased to announce that the COBA membership has ratified the proposed contract agreement !!
97% of COBA Members voted in this ratification process.
The contract passed with 82% of Members in favor.
The raw numbers were 564 in favor, with 125 against.
In these difficult economic times, this contract was long overdue for a membership that has suffered through a continuing staffing crisis, as well as the burdensome effects of criminal justice reforms enacted by NYS.
I thank all COBA members for their patience and support as we renegotiated a deal that most importantly preserves the level of healthcare our members deserve, while providing fair compensation under the continued auspices of a State appointed Financial Control Board.
Corrections is a job that only a special kind of person can thrive in.
We certainly don’t do this job for the glamour of it and deserve fair compensation for the dangerous and most essential service that we provide for the residents and taxpayers of Nassau County.
Thank you all COBA Members for your support during this process.
Always in Unity;
Brian Sullivan, COBA President
