Dear COBA Members,

This morning COBA was contacted regarding the highly offensive and inappropriate social media posts made by a civilian employee of the Nassau County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon learning of this incident, we immediately informed the County and the Department of this matter, and they began an internal investigation. At this time, the employee has been suspended and is not permitted entrance to the facility, any building or outside parking lots.

COBA takes your concerns very seriously and will continue to fight for a safe and non-hostile working environment for all employees working at the Correctional Center, regardless of Union affiliation.

As always, we will keep you updated with any important developments as this investigation proceeds.
