To All COBA 9/11 Responders:

Several months ago COBA conducted a Registration Seminar with our 9/11 Liaison from Mt. Sinai Hospital. It was a very informative and successful gathering for our Members/Retirees who responded to NYC and other various sites after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

Unfortunately, we have several active and retired Members who are suffering from medical conditions related to their brave actions back then. To date, we have guided many of our Members and Retirees through the 9/11 Registration Process to protect their rights on both the Federal and State level should they need current or future medical assistance; wish to file a claim for compensation related to a covered 9/11 related illness; or simply want to be registered should anything happen in the future. Even if you have no current medical conditions related to 9/11 you should be registered with the WTC Health Program to establish a baseline and monitor your health into the future. Additionally, it doesnt cost you anything except the effort to do it.

The Registration Process can be a little confusing to do on your own. There are several registries that you need to make sure you sign into, making sure you and your families rights are protected including;

1. The World Trade Center Health Program
2. The 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund and;
3. The New York State Pension System  

COBA is currently planning another 9/11 Registration Day for sometime in September because like the Jail guards we all are, COBA received numerous inquiries after our first seminar asking "When are you doing that again? That was a good idea, I should do that sometime". STOP PROCRASTINATING!! Get yourself in and register to protect yourself and your family should God forbid, anything ever happens.

For us to accomplish this and plan accordingly, we need to know how many Members/Retirees still need to sign in to the 9/11 Registries.

Via this email, I ask that all COBA Members and Retirees who still need to complete their registrations please contact us as soon as possible so that we can establish a list of who we can help moving forward.
