Class Action Grievance Filed vs County Re PeopleSoft Payroll System

June 15, 2021

Dear COBA Members/Retirees;

This week, COBA filed a Class Action Grievance against the County concerning numerous deficiencies with the new PeopleSoft Payroll and HR System. These deficiencies include, but are not limited to inaccurate recording of Holiday Comp Days/Floating Holiday Accruals and inaccurate recording of Compensatory Time Accruals.

Additionally, PeopleSoft can only go back a maximum of 90 calendar days to make corrections to leave accruals or reverse days etc.

This 90-day restriction caused many issues with leave accruals and prevented COBA Members from utilizing time that should have been available to them. The Union strongly urges you to review your time and leave records and notify Human Resources via Interdepartmental-Memo of any discrepancies.

The union would also like a copy of those Memos for use in the Class Action Grievance. You can either fax or drop a copy to the Union Office, the fax number is 516-822-8726. You can also give a copy to any Delegate, or to an Executive Board Member at the Jail Union Office (located in the Core Transportation Yard) every Thursday from 2pm-5pm.
