Dear COBA Members;
COBA received several complaints/inquiries about Exam questions in last week's promotional exam for Capt and Lt, the content of which is formulated by NYS Civil Service.
Many times promotional exams have a "review" option where test takers can request to review certain answers or submit complaints regarding exam questions.
Last week's tests stated clearly on the front of each Exam Booklet that "No Review" was available. This occurs when test questions and answers have been in dispute previously, but were then reviewed and vetted out.
Apparently, some individuals that took last week's exam complained to their Proctors about questions and were given dispute forms. Others requested dispute forms but were told they were not available.
COBA contacted Civil Service about this issue and was advised that anyone can make a complaint about an exam by contacting Civil Service directly at the following email address:
cscrecruitment@nassaucountyny.gov
Through this email, a test taker can lodge a complaint about the content of the exam itself as well as the availability of dispute forms.
Nassau County Civil Service staff will forward all complaints and inquiries directly to New York State Civil Service.
COBA will also follow up on this issue directly through the Union.
Stay safe,
Always in Unity;
Brian Sullivan, COBA President
