Dear COBA Members,
After an extensive round of contract negotiations with the County, the Executive Board and I are very pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Nassau County on a one-year extension of our current collective bargaining agreement, effective July 1, 2026. The Board of Governors held a meeting and unanimously voted to accept the agreement.
The agreement provides the following:
ALL Nassau COBA Members will receive a 4.5% wage increase effective July 1, 2026.
Elimination of the FSLA Overtime, where the first 16 hours of overtime worked each year was paid at straight time.
This agreement includes FULL RETRO back to July 1, 2026.
This agreement was reached with ZERO CONCESSIONS FROM OUR MEMBERS.
This extension delivers real money and provides immediate gains to our members’ pockets with nothing given up in return. It also preserves and strengthens our ability to continue to work towards a comprehensive, long-term contract that you deserve, without having to wait years without seeing any progress or increases in your paychecks.
Since being elected, this Executive Board continues to maintain the stance that our members should not have to wait for meaningful progress, while long-term negotiations continue.
THIS CONTRACT EXTENSION REPRESENTS THE FASTEST CONTRACT PRESENTED TO OUR MEMBERSHIP IN THE HISTORY OF NASSAU COBA'S EXISTENCE!
Your COBA Board remains united and committed to securing a long-term agreement that properly recognizes the professionalism, daily sacrifices, and dedication of the men and women who work behind the walls of our facility.
This agreement is still subject to a vote and ratification by you and your fellow members. Details on the vote will be forthcoming.
General Membership Meetings will be announced for COBA members to attend and have the agreement explained in detail.
The COBA Executive Board and I will also be in the facility to answer any questions you may have concerning this deal.
