Today we laid our Brother Mark Ridge to rest after passing away from 9/11 related cancer. Its been a tough couple of days for us in Corrections.
Today, the Sheriff's Dept once again did ourselves proud with a perfect display of honor and respect for Officer Ridge's Family as we escorted him from a packed house at St. Killian's Church in Farmingdale, through a Drive-By of the Correctional Facility then on to his final resting place in St. Charles Cemetery, again in Farmingdale.
COBA wishes to thank the Nassau County Police Dept for providing a Highway Unit Escort throughout today's procession. We also thank Sheriff Dzurenda and Nassau County's Deputy Sheriffs for their professional assistance in the traffic detail throughout.
COBA recognizes in particular the incredible job performed by the Nassau County Sheriffs Dept Honor Guard. From the viewing last night through today's Church Service, Drive-By and Cemetery Escort, our Honor Guard displayed complete dedication to Service of this Department and our Members, with precision displays of their training, showing honor and respect for our Members and extended Correctional Family.
Our Honor Guard deserves enormous respect and thanks for their dedicated service.
Please see below some photos of today's procession.
Rest In Peace Correction Officer Mark Ridge.
Always in Respect and Unity;
Brian Sullivan, COBA President
