2022 COBA Scholarship Winners

At the June General Membership Meeting each year the Nassau County Sheriff's Correction Officers Benevolent Association Widow's and Children's Fund draws its Annual Scholarship Winners. This year Five $1,000 Scholarships went to graduating High School Seniors and Five $1,000 Scholarships went to returning College students.

This year we will be presenting a $500 Scholarship Generously donated by retired Captain Peter Dudek in memory of his son Peter Robert Dudek. Peter Robert Dudek was a former Marine who served 3 tours in Iraq and was living in Thailand teaching English when he was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. We are honored to present this scholarship in honor of Peter Robert Dudek and Thank retired Captain Dudek for his generosity.

All Scholarship winners are selected at random.

This year the Five graduating High School Seniors that were selected were:

Erica Brady - Daughter of Correction Officer Ed Brady

Carley Doyle - Daughter of Correction Lieutenant Brian Doyle

Bridget McDevitt - Daughter of Correction Sergeant Pat McDevitt

Stephanie Rojas - Daughter of Correction Officer Alberto Bazante

Garret Wolff - Son of Correction Officer Thomas Wolff

The Five returning College Students that were selected were:

James Kwarta - Son of Correction Sergeant Joseph Kwarta

Cayla Schimmel - Daughter of Sergeant William Schimmel

Nicholas Christensen - Son of Correction Officer Robert Christensen

Nicholas Firth - Son of Correction Officer Ed Firth

Grace Barbara - Daughter of Correction Officer Paul Barbara

Peter Robert Dudek Memorial Scholarship

Generously donated by retired Captain Peter Dudek in memory of his son.

Anthony Marcolini - Son of Correction Officer Anthony Marcolini
