NY Post Coverage of Assault on Nassau Correction Officer Due To HALT Law

September 26, 2022

Dear COBA Members;

Please see below a story in today's New York Post detailing one of several recent violent incidents in our Jail that is the direct result of the HALT Law that was implemented this past April. The story contains good coverage of what Correction Officers (Not Jail Guards) have to deal with every day in our facilities. I urge all of our Members to print out this story, mail or email it to your local Senator and Assemblyman and demand that HALT be repealed in New York State before one of our Officers is permanently injured or killed due to this insanity.

Repealing/amending HALT is a top priority of both Nassau COBA and our partners in the Downstate Correction Officers Coalition.

Brian Sullivan, COBA President
